Foley Artists, Found Sound and Sound Effects.
Materials: Home video recording technologies (computer, phone, or tablet)
Objectives:
Students will be introduced to Foley sound artists in film and radio.
Students will investigate sounds around their home as tools to create sound effects.
Students will identify their peer’s sound effects.
Procedure
Show students the TikTok video by @ang_shoenbauer as inspiration for their assignment.
Assign students to use their voices/bodies and found objects around the home to create realistic sound effects. Students must identify their intended sound effect and send in a video of themselves making it.
In the next class meeting, play 1 sound by each student and have other students try to guess what the intended sound effect is.
